About Us

Hello. Welcome to Cavelle & Co.

We are a small catering and private dining business located in the Chilterns, who are passionate about fresh, local and British food.


We are based in Watlington and surrounded by a fabulous community of high quality artisan food producers. From award-winning chocolatiers, superb butchers and a bakery producing some of the best bread in the

We are based in Watlington and surrounded by a fabulous community of high quality artisan food producers. From award-winning chocolatiers, superb butchers and a bakery producing some of the best bread in the country!


To create our food we draw on the culinary riches on our doorstep and pride ourselves on using the freshest and best produce we can lay our hands on.

What we do

Catering

Based out of our kitchen space in Watlington we cater events for between 25 to 200 people, whether that's a BBQ, bowl food or sit down dining. We'll create a completely bespoke menu for your event and ensure that it is filled with the best local and British produce.

Private Dining

If you're looking for something spectacular for a celebration then we will bring the best of British food into your home. We will work with you to make sure that you get the menu and experience that perfectly fits the occasion. 

Sustainability

Like everyone we're concerned about our planet. At Cavelle & Co we've made a decision to only use fully compostable plates, cutlery and bowls. We'll supply everything you need for your event and then take it away to be turned into compost. (Lots of it ends up in our company allotment!)

Here are some little examples of the kind of food we love and make, but if you let us know what you love - then we'll make that for you too!


BBQ

At Cavelle & Co we absolutely love a BBQ. There's something wonderful about a sunny day, a cold drink and some sizzling food.

Ribeye of Wootton Basset beef

A whole ribeye slow-cooked for 9 hours and then finished on the charcoal to a perfect medium rare. Sliced into steaks and served with a horseradish mayo. 

Middle Eastern Halloumi kebabs

Marinated overnight in Baharat spices and yoghurt. Served with a pomegranate glaze and a dusting of sumac.

Tex Mex burgers

Calnan's butchers beef burgers (or vegetarian), topped with slow-cooked pulled pork/jackfruit with all the trimmings and a smear of chipotle mayo.


BBQ Sides

It can't just be all about the charcoal. Apparently.

Elote Mexican sweetcorn

A street food classic. Grilled sweetcorn smothered in a chipotle mayo, butter, crema fresca and coriander. A squeeze of lime and you're good to go!

Egyptian hummus

Homemade hummus, topped with `foul mudammas' (a spicy fava bean stew - don't be put off by the name!), za'atar and sumac. Served with fluffy Arabic bread.

Green herb salad

A twist on the traditional green salad. Packed with dill, coriander, parsley and served with almonds toasted in olive oil.


The Watlington Ploughman's

Calnan's butchers pork pie

A big wedge of Calnan's handmade pork pie - made with Britwell Salome pork from just down the road. What's not to like....

The sausage roll

Not just any sausage roll. THE sausage roll. Packed with sage, apple, cider and calvados.

Cheese

Always the best of local and British cheeses. Perhaps a Dorset Cerne Abbas cheddar, or a Highmoor from just down the road at the Nettlebed Creamery. Always changing, and always the best we can find!

All served with bread from the Orange Bakery, salads, biscuits, hummus and, of course, pickled onions.


Mains

Slow-cooked beef shin ragu

Cooked in wine and homemade stock for 4 hours, this is a melt in the mouth beef ragu. Served with artisan pasta and 18 month old parmesan cheese. 

Almond breaded chicken escalope

Caldecott Farm chicken breast, coated in an almond and panko coating, served with potato salad, asparagus and redcurrant jelly.

Tacos

Lamb barbacoa, mexican pulled pork, shredded spicy chicken, beer battered fish, pulled jackfruit or panko-coated roasted cauliflower. There is no end to our love of tacos. All served on corn tortillas with mole and salsas.


Sweet stuff

Chai masala panna cotta

The classic Italian pudding with an Indian twist. Based on our love of the sweet railway tea of India - this panna cotta is flavoured with cinnamon, cardamon and cloves. Served with a mango coulis and a pistachio crumb.

Baked blueberry cheesecake

Individual blueberry American-style cheesecakes, with a vanilla & lemon cream topping - covered in flaked white chocolate. 

Macaroons

Freshly made by the famous Naked Cakes bakery in Watlington. Decadent.
